How to Prepare

There are no strict rules about what to wear for your portrait session, but here are a few helpful guidelines to consider.

For young children, try to book your session at a time that suits their routine—avoiding nap and meal times whenever possible. Bring along a favourite toy to help them feel at ease. Choose simple clothing without bold patterns, logos, or graphics, as these can distract from your child’s face and may date your photos. Timeless, classic outfits always photograph beautifully.

For family portraits, decide whether you’d prefer a formal or casual look. If you’re unsure, bring a change of clothes for some variety. Coordinate outfits, but avoid matching too closely—soft, neutral tones tend to photograph beautifully. Avoid clothing with distracting patterns, brand logos, or large graphics.

Make sure everyone feels comfortable in what they’re wearing. Feeling relaxed and confident will help your personality shine through. Prepare as you would for a special outing—having your makeup done and wearing your favourite outfit can make a big difference.

And most importantly, rest and relax! Well-rested kids (and parents!) always photograph best. For colour portraits, consider how your chosen tones will complement the colours and décor of your home where your photos will be displayed.

What to Expect

The session lasts about 45–60 minutes. We’ll start with relaxed family poses and move into candid moments and close-ups. You’ll receive a private online gallery where you can select your favourite images.
